Corfe Mullen, formerly a village in East Dorset district, the conurbation of  Poole encroaches from the south east.
Corfe Mullen retains its independence from BCP Council, and its parish includes green belt within the Dorset Heaths.
The parish now has a town council under Dorset Council, but has wards for
the Westminster parliamentary seat of Mid Dorset and North Poole.
The parish is surrounded by  Wimborne Minster to the north east,  Sturminster Marshall to the north west, 
Lytchett Matravers to the south west, and  Lytchett Minster and Upton to the south.
