The city of Auburn was founded by Judge John J. Harper in 1836. It is the home of Auburn University and is located in Lee County. Along the streets of Uptown Auburn, granite plaques pay tribute to Auburn University’s greatest athletes, coaches and administrators. Each year the Auburn Chamber of Commerce adds the plaques of new inductees to the city’s own walk of fame.
