Gilmer County, located extreme North Georgia, is Georgia's Apple Capital, harvesting more than 600,000 bushels of apples between August and December of each year. During the second and third weekends of October, visitors from around the nation stop by and visit the Gilmer County Apple Festival, buying apples, antiques, jams, jellies, arts, crafts, and more, more, more! We welcome and appreciate all of our visitors, without a doubt.
But, there is more to Gilmer County than apples. People live in Gilmer County year-round, and not everyone owes their personal living to the apple. Check out this site and see just what Gilmer County is all about--where it came from, where it is, and where it is heading.
