MARY KAY BERGMAN June 5, 1961 - November 11, 1999 Cause of death has been ruled as suicide. Mary Kay was the unfortunate victim of mental illness, something she managed to conceal even from her immediate family. Two suicide notes were found. Mary Kay's husband, Dino Andrade, has asked that this message be relayed to all: It was decided to alter the opening paragraph of Mary Kay's Obituary, please use this version: Actress, and Los Angeles native, Mary Kay Bergman took her own life Thursday November 11th after losing her struggle with a progressive mental illness, which tragically she kept secret from her husband, friends and family. She was 38. Mary Kay Bergman became one of today's most prolific and versatile voice artists over the span of just 12 years. Her voice was featured in over 400 commercials and she won several roles in feature-length animated films, even being nominated for an Annie Award for her role as Sheila Broflovski in the theatrical release, "South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut" (1999). Mary Kay was also a wonderfully sweet and gracious lady who left us much too soon. She leaves with us an incredible legacy of her work in voice-over. In her short time with us, she became the "official" voice of Snow White for Disney and for Mrs. Butterworth for Mrs. Butterworth's Syrup, Daphne Blake in the two latest Scooby-Doo direct-to-video releases, Quasimodo's mother in Disney's "The Hunchback of Notre Dame", Barbara Gordon/Batgirl in "Batman & Mr. Freeze: Subzero" (1998), various voices in Warner Bros' "The Iron Giant" (1999), and performed all the female voices but Bebe on Comedy Central's "South Park" where she was initially credited under the alias of "Shannen Cassidy". In addition to having a wide range, she had an uncanny gift for doing not "impressions" but impeccable voice matches* for a number of celebrity females: Helen Hunt, Gillian Anderson, Jodie Foster, Meg Ryan, and even young male stars as Macaulay Culkin and Eli Marienthal. All are encouraged to pay their respects to this wonderfully talented and sweet lady by signing her guestbook.
