Procol Harum was formed under several other names in the late 1960s. The band has had individual players leave and return, new players join, and the original band reform. Original members were Gary Brooker, Matthew Fisher, Bobby Harrison, David Knights, Keith Reid, Ray Royer. The band was named after a friend's Burmese cat, although it was misspelled and the cat's pedigree name was Procul Harun.
