The trio of Estelle and Veronica Bennett, and Nedra Talley, formed in 1959. The original group split up in 1967. Lead singer Veronica later married the group's producer, Phil Spector, and became known as Ronnie Spector. Estelle died of colon cancer in 2009, and Ronnie Spector died in January 2022 of cancer.
