Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) is an often intermittent gastrointestinal disorder, which usually involves abdominal pain, bloating, gas, diarrhea and constipation.
It is a common digestive problem more often in women than in men.
It is diagnosed when tests of the colon reveal no indication of disease.
It is not the same disorder as Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD - such as Crohn's Disease, ulcerative colitis, or celiac disease)
