The Entlebucher Mountain Dog, like the Rottweiler, probably descended from the Roman Molossus. It is a native dog to the Entlebuch region of Switzerland near Lucerne. The dog was originally used for pulling milk wagons in the mountain regions of Switzerland and for cattle droving.
