The Fila Brasileiro (Brazillian Mastiff) is believed to be a cross of, primarily, ancient Bulldogs, Bloodhounds, and English Mastiffs. The result was a guardian, herder, and big game hunter. Today the Fila Brasileiro is a family guardian, herder, and police dog.
The Fila is a powerful, muscular dog with a short, soft coat. It reaches 24-30" and 90-110 pounds. It is loyal, courageous, and very suspicious of strangers.
