A district with abundance of deep forests with wild life and tea plantations. District headquarters is at Jalpaiguri. The main railway station is at New Jalpaiguri which is connected by express trains to all major Indian cities. The Darjeeling Himalayan Railway is world famous and connects NJP and Darjeeling. This railway has been declared a UNESCO heritage site.
