The official name is Kingdom of Norway (Kongeriket Norge), a constitutional monarchy in northern Europe. The country occupies the western and northern parts of the Scandinavian peninsula.
The island Jan Mayen and the Svalbard archipelago are possessions of Norway in the Arctic. In the Antarctic region Bouvet Island and Peter I Island are claimed as dependencies.
