My Account
The Lizard Peninsula ("The Lizard") is a rural area in the south west of Cornwall, having
the small village of Lizard at its southernmost point.
Lizard is the southernmost mainland village in Britain, within the parish of Landewednack.
All websites within this parish should be listed in the Lizard category.
There are formally 12 parishes on the Lizard Peninsula.
On west coast, north of Landewednack, the parish of  Mullion, with Predannack Downs,
Predannack Airfield, Mullion Cove, and Mullion Island, south of the main village of Mullion.
Next north is the parish of Gunwalloe, which includes Mullion Golf Club, before the hamlet of Gunwalloe,
with Carminowe Creek at is northern boundary.
Across Carminowe Creek, and The Loe, which is the estuary of the River Cober,
is the parish of Porthleven.
Inland the River Cober runs to the west of the town of Helston.
Helston parish includes Helston Down and Culdrose Airfield, before the inland parish of Cury,
separated from Carminowe Creek and the east coast by Gunwalloe, and includes the
hamlets of Nantithet on Gilly Hill, Cury, Gwealeath and Cross Lanes on
the A3083 road between Helston and Lizard.
Until there is a separate category, websites for the parishes of Cury and Gunwalloe may be listed in subcategories of Helston.
On the east coast, north of Lizard lifeboat station, is the parish of Grade-Ruan,
with villages of  Cadgwith immediately north, then Ruan Minor up hill from Cadgwith Cove,
then Kuggar further north, and Goonhilly Down inland.
Until there is a separate category, websites for the parish of Grade-Ruan, may be listed in
the  St Keverne category.
St Keverne is the parish stretching along a south facing coast from Gwenter to Coverack,
then north via Porthoustock, on the coast east of the village of St Keverne, then Porthallow,
and the mouth of the Helford, before the parish boundary of St Anthony-in-Meneage.
St Anthony-in-Meneage is also a hamlet on the north bank of across Gillian Harbour and
Gillian Creek, with the boundary with the parish of Manaccan to the east.
Manaccan is also a hamlet east of Gillian Creek, but the busier conurbation is  Helford,
with its harbour on the Helford River and a ferry to the Helford Passage on the north bank.
Immediately west across Frenchman's Creek, is the parish of St Martin-in-Meneage, also on the
south bank of the Helford River, with the parish of Mawgan-in-Meneage, across
Mawgan Creek, and on the south bank of the tidal Helford River, with the parish of Gweek to the north,
which bounders Helston.
Unlike the other parishes listed above, Gweek is not in the Parliamentary constituency of St Ives.
(Constantine and Gweek are within the  Camborne and  Redruth constituency)
However, websites for the community around the Helford River, are currently listed in the  Helford category.
Besides Gweek and the Menaage parishes on the south bank, this includes localities on the north bank,
in the parish of Constantine, to the parish boundary at Porth Navas, with  Mawnan to the east.
