Kennford forms the first major connabation along the A38, including Exeter Racecourse, south west of Exeter, hence the name of this category. Historically the parish grew from the village of Kenn, at the first bridge across the River Kenn. The parish of Kenn is separated from Alphington, administered by the city of the Exeter, by the Parish of Shillingford St George, on its north boundary.  The settlement of Clapham lies to the west before Kenn's boundary with west is Dunchieock. Further south the boundary meets parishes of Ashtonare and Chudleigh. then Kenton to the south west.
