Lifton is a village and parish with population around 1000, on the confluence of the Rivers Lyd and Tamar,: including hamlets of Tinhay and Liftondown, formerly on, and now bypassed by, the A30 to Launceston,; where the Tamar forms the county boundary with Cornwall.
