Holwell is small settlement, and parish on the southern edge of West Dorset, south of the A3030 road
between  Sherborne and  Sturminster Newton.
The West Dorset parish neighbours are Bishop's Caudwell directly north,
then Folke north west, Holnest to the west.
The North Dorset parish neighbours are Glanvilles Wootton directly south west,  Pulham directly south,
and  Lydlinch to the east, which has King's Stag before the River Lydden.
