My Account
Pentridge is a village, with its name derived from the Celtic for 'hill of the wild boar' on the edge of Cranborne Chase in north East Dorset.
The former civil parish, is now administered as a combined parish with  Sixpenny Handley to the west.
The east parish boundary with Hampshire at  Martin largely coincides with Bokerley Ditch, a defensive dyke
from the 1st century, where at Bockerley Junction, it is crossed by the Roman road between
Old Sarum and Badbury Rings.  The settlement of Woodyates survives off the A354.
Cranborne is directly south, and the north limits of  Wimborne St Giles include the Roman road along Ackling Dyke as it heads south south west,
separating Pentridge and  Sixpenny Handley.
The northern boundary is with the Wiltshire parish of  Bower Chalke.
