In April 1996 Humberside was abolished and replaced by 4 unitary councils : City of Kingston upon Hull East Riding of Yorkshire North East Lincolnshire North Lincolnshire For ceremonial purposes Kingston upon Hull deemed part of East Riding of Yorkshire (formerly East Yorkshire), Beverley, Holderness and part of Boothferry, which has become a ceremonial county in its own right. North Lincolnshire (formerly Glandford, Scunthorpe and part of Boothferry) and North East Lincolnshire (formerly Cleethorpes and Great Grimsby) are deemed part of Lincolnshire.
