Earlimart is an unincorporated rural town in Tulare county that is located approximately forty miles north of the City of Bakersfield, CA and approximately seventy miles south of Fresno, CA.
Before 1910, Earlimart was called Alila. It was part of the Dalton Gang's infamous history. Citizens voted to rename Alila to Earlimart after the variety of melons grown there, because they were early to market.
