The most populous area of the state, the Southern California Region consists of the counties of Imperial, Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego and Ventura. It includes the entire metropolitan area of Los Angeles, and the regions Coachella Valley and Inland Empire. Parts of the regions Central Coast, Channel Islands and Deserts are also within the boundaries of the area.
