Public school management in the United States is generally conducted under the auspices of a local school board, which may have such powers as review or removal of administrators, creation of regulations, drawing of district lines, or oversight of the school budgets. The members of school boards are commonly elected from the general population within district boundaries. The particular constitutions of school boards, however, vary greatly from state to state and place to place.
