Located in eastern Hillsborough County, Plant City is the Winter Strawberry Capital of the World.

Originally the area was settled by Seminole Indians. The town was first called Ichepucksassa after the Indian village but was renamed Cork by a postmaster in the late 1800s. In 1884 Henry B. Plant extended the railroad to the town and the next year the town was incorporated and named in honor of Plant.
