St. Louis, the largest city in Missouri, is known as the Gateway to the West. The landmark Gateway Arch faces the Mississippi River on the east side of the city. The city is also known for the Cardinals, a major league baseball team, and for its numerous breweries. The St. Louis metro area includes the municipalities of Ballwin, Chesterfield, Creve Coeur, Florissant, Kirkwood, Maryland Heights, St. Charles, St. Peters, and Washington, as well as Illinois cities and towns such as Affton, Belleville, Collinsville, Edwardsville, and O'Fallon.
