The salmonids are members of the genus Salmo, in the family Salmonidae. Some are entirely freshwater fish but other are anadromous, that is they live in the sea but swim up rivers to spawn. They include salmon, trout and sea trout. This category is concerned with the science and rearing of salmonids for human consumption.
