This category is for the scientific and technological aspects of heat pumps.
A heat pump is an apparatus that extracts heat from one area and diverts it to another. It can be used to transfer heat from a reservoir to heat a building. It can also work in reverse mode, extracting heat from the indoors and transferring it outdoors in the same way as an air conditioner functions.
