This powerful alliance originally included the Mohawk, Onondaga, Seneca, Oneida, and Cayuga peoples. The Tuscarora later joined the confederacy, and it has since been known as the Six Nations. The alliance continues to this day; the people call it Haudenosaunee, "people of the long house."
