This Arts/Literature category contains listings of websites which are related to fiction. Its sub-categories are sorted by genre, form, mode of publication, and so on.

Sites listed at this level are restricted to those covering multiple genres, or, a recognized (sub)genre without a subcategory -- academic studies, tributes to or studies of multiple authors or works, interviews, substantive reviews, journalistic articles about the genre or its writers, and bibliographies. The most visible aspect of 'cyberpunk' is the literary subgenre of science fiction that features a dark and gritty, yet painfully realistic vision of the near future.

Espionage and War

Fictional literature about espionage, spying and spies, thrillers, action thrillers, warfare, combat, specific wars, soldiers, sailors, marines.

This category is for sites related to published espionage fiction and war fiction of some literary merit and renown -- author sites, academic studies, tributes to or studies of specific authors or works, interviews, substantive reviews, journalistic articles about the genre or its writers, bibliographies.

Fantasy

This category is dedicated to Fantasy genre fiction sites.

Please find the relevant subcategory to place your site; most should not go at this level.

Historical Fiction

Established authors and works of well-researched historical fiction.

If the work has only been published online, then the website belongs in Arts/Online_Writing/Fiction/Genres/Historical_Fiction .

Horror

This subcategory is dedicated to Horror genre fiction sites.

Literary Nonfiction

A genre of many names: literary nonfiction, creative nonfiction, literary journalism, factual fiction, and documentary narrative.

Literary nonfiction is a form of storytelling that is based on fact. It is nonfiction written using styles and elements of fiction, such as character development, setting, action, narrative, dialogue, figurative language, and conflict.

Mystery

This category is dedicated to mystery genre fiction sites.

Please submit all websites dealing with a specific author (or his/her work) to the appropriate letter category in the Authors subcategory.

Use the site''s actual title.
Create a brief description listing the current content of your site (not the future content).

Sites which are gateways or splash pages to affiliate sites will not be added.

Nature Writing

While precise definitions of nature writing vary, it is generally agreed that it is nonfiction prose in which the narrator observes nature without sentimentality or personification.

Romance

This subcategory is dedicated to sites about romance novels, i.e. promoting romance fiction books and writing. Key elements are a pair of individuals in a monogamous relationship ending in a "happily ever after" life. This genre is also closely linked with Women's Fiction.

Romance novels are most often printed in one of three formats:

categories (shorter format with limited shelf time of about one month - i.e. Harlequin, Loveswept, Mills & Boon, and Silhouette)

single titles (longer format with multi-month shelf time)

Romance novels come in several subgenres, some of which have additional sub-subgenres:

Please suggest sites to the lowest possible subcategory, i.e. if the site is a fansite dedicated to a specific author, suggest it to the category of the author's last name (or the author's subcategory if they have one), or to the (subgenre)/Authors cat if applicable.

Science Fiction

This category is for sites devoted to written professionally published science-fiction and fantasy. The "Science" sub-category is for the sort of science that SF readers are likely to be interested in-- faster-than-light travel, nanotechnology, xenobiology, and the like. Websites devoted to particular authors (i.e. Spider Robinson) are listed in the "Authors" sub-category.
