Robert Benton - screenwriter and director, born 29 September 1932, Waxahachie, Texas, USA.
Benton was an editor of 'Esquire' when he collaborated with David Newman on the script for Bonnie and Clyde (1967). Subsequent writing credits include Superman (1978).
Directorial credits include 'Kramer vs. Kramer' (1979), (that won Benton Academy Awards for Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay), 'Places in the Heart' (1984), and 'Nobody's Fool' (1994).
