The Matrix Series is comprised of the following films: 1. The Matrix (1999) 2. The Matrix Reloaded (2003) 3. The Matrix Revolutions (2003) Also, related to the series is a documentary film exclusively about making the first film in the series. The documentary is called The Matrix Revisited. It was released straight to DVD in 2001. An additional title related to the series is The Animatrix (2003), which is a series of anime episodes providing background information for the first film. Matrix, The

"The Matrix" is an Academy Award-winning futuristic cyberpunk thriller directed by Larry and Andy Wachowski and released in March 1999. The film follows a hacker named Neo as he searches for an answer to the question that has haunted him for years: What is the Matrix?. A rather famous quotation from the film reads "No one can be told what the Matrix is. You have to see it for yourself." (Morpheus). This captures the film's very unique characteristic - that it is much less enjoyable if one watches it knowing what the story is about.
