Based on a real life experience, a couple, Patty and Drake, buy their dream house in San Francisco. They decide to rent out the ground floor apartment to help out with the mortgage payments. Charming Carter Hayes initially seems to be an ideal tenant, but after he moves in things begin to go wrong.

Paleface, The

Someone is selling guns to the Indians and in order to find out who, Calamity Jane (Jane Russell) and a secret agent go undercover posing as man and wife. When the agent is killed Calamity recruits a new husband (Bob Hope), an inept dentist and confirmed coward, whose goal is to leave the barbaric west far behind. 1948 comedy western, with two musical numbers, and probably one of Hope's best films. The success of this movie produced a sequel, titled "Son of Paleface."

Pallbearer, The

A dark comedy about life-long crushes, mistaken identity, and one really bad eulogy.

Palmetto

A recently released ex-con gets involved in a fake kidnapping scheme that turns very real. Mystery thriller with many plot twists. Released in 1998.

Palm Beach Story, The

An inventor needs cash to develop his big idea. His wife, who loves him, decides to raise it for him by divorcing him and marrying a millionaire. 1942 comedy directed and written by Preston Sturges. Starring Claudette Colbert, Joel McCrea, Mary Astor, and Rudy Vallee.

Palookaville - 1996

Jerry and his two pals, Russ and Syd, are just looking for some easy money to help them break out of their nowhere lives in their nowhere town. Crime comedy, with low-key humor, released in 1995. Contains sexual situations and minor violence.

Pal Joey

Musical comedy about a man named Joey Evans who is charming and handsome, but still a number-one heel. He must choose between Vera, a rich widow and former chorus girl, and Linda, a sweet young dancer. Original music by Rodgers and Hart.

1929 silent film that made Louise Brooks an international star. The movie tells the tragic story of Lulu, a dancer and prostitute. Based on the plays of F. Wedekind. An American film from 1990 documenting a drag culture of black and hispanic gay men in Harlem during the mid-1980s. Directed by Jennie Livingston, this work includes interviews as well as footage of actual drag balls. Looks at the origins of "voguing" and issues of identity, roles, image, and "realness."

Parting Glances

Michael and Robert, a gay couple in New York, prepare for Robert's departure for a two-year work assignment in Africa. A 1986 drama, directed and written by Bill Sherwood.

Party, The

A bumbling Indian actor is fired during the filming of a costume epic. When the 'fire this guy' list gets confused with the Hollywood studio head's guest list for a party, he appears there and everyone assumes he must belong. Sight gags and misunderstandings are played out at the party where the rest of the film takes place. 1968 comedy, directed by Blake Edwards and starring Peter Sellers.

Party Crasher

A teen slasher flick about, Henry Primo, desperate for acceptance and popularity, invites everyone to his 16th birthday party. Unfortunately, a local bad seed slips Henry narcotics. The next morning, 7 of his friends are found murdered and Henry is found guilty. Fifteen years later, Henry's parents persuade the courts to release him, and they return him to a specially constructed cell in their home. They only want their son back...but he has definitely changed.

Party Girl - 1958

Lawyer Thomas Farrell has made a career defending crooks. He has never realised that there is a downside to his success, until he meets the dancer Vicki Gayle. She makes him decide to get a better reputation. But mob king Rico Angelo insists that he continue his services. This 1958 film was directed by Nicholas Ray, and starred Robert Taylor, Cyd Charisse, and Lee J. Cobb.

Party Girl - 1995

Mary is a young woman with a run-down New York apartment and a high fashion wardrobe. She calls her godmother, a librarian, for bail money after being arrested for throwing an illegal party. To repay the loan, she begins working as a library clerk. At first she hates it, but when challenged decides to become a great library clerk, while romancing a vendor and helping her roommate in his goal to become a professional DJ. 1995 comedy.

Party Monster

This is the true story of Michael Alig (Macaulay Culkin), a Club Kid party organizer whose life was sent spiraling down when he bragged on television about killing his drug dealer and roommate (Wilson Cruz). 2003 drama of the crime, written and directed by Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbato.

Passionada

Passionada is a 2002 romantic comedy about three generations of Portuguese women in the fishing community of New Bedford. Directed by Dan Ireland, it stars Jason Isaacs, Sofia Milos, and Emmy Rossum.

Passion in the Desert

A captain in Napoleon's Egyptian Campaign becomes lost in the desert and lives with a wild leopard. Sometimes called: "Simoom: A Passion in the Desert." Released in 1997 this adventure drama was directed by Lavinia Currier, and based on a story by Balzac.

Fact-based story of Hunter "Patch" Adams (Robin Williams), the founder of the Gesundheit Clinic, a clinic which deals with their patients with humor and pathos. 1998 film, directed by Tom Shadyac, and based on the book "Gesundheir: Good Health is a Laughing Matter," by Patch Adams and Maureen Mylander.

When soldiers in World War I refuse to continue with an impossible attack, their superiors decide to make an example of them. 1957 war drama, directed by Stanley Kubrick, and starring Kirk Douglas, Ralph Meeker, and Adolphe Menjou.

Patriot, The

In this story of the American Revolution, Benjamin Martin (Mel Gibson) is a pacifist turned warrior, who joins his son (Heath Ledger) in a bitter and personal battle for independence after experiencing the iron fist of a cold-blooded British officer. The Patriot is a 2000 action war drama, directed by Roland Emmerich.

Pauline and Paulette

2000 film directed by Lieven Debrauwer, starring Dora Van Der Groen and Ann Petersen. Pauline, who is mentally deficient, lives with her eldest sister Martha in a small Flemish town. Totally dependent upon Martha for everyday tasks, Pauline is nonetheless happy in her limited world. When Martha dies unexpectedly, it looks like Pauline will spend the rest of her life in a nursing home, unless one of her two remaining sisters, Paulette and Cecile, agrees to come to her aid.

Pawn, The

Ray is a cop (Greg Evigan), who decides to move to upstate New York, away from the stress of busy downtown New York. He soon discovers, his small town has been swallowed by a growing Russian mob. 1998 crime movie, directed by Clay Borris.

Pawnbroker, The

1965 drama, directed by Sidney Lumet. The movie focuses on Sol Nazerman (Rod Steiger), a middle-aged concentration camp survivor who lost his entire family to the Nazis and now runs a pawnshop in Harlem. He has lost faith in God and man; emotionless and totally removed from the world that surrounds his run-down shop.

Payback

Shot and left for dead, a man comes looking for "payback" in this action based revenge movie. 1999 film by director Brian Helgeland, and starring Mel Gibson.

Paycheck

Based on a Phillip K. Dick story and directed by John Woo. A man who has part of his memory erased by his employer, begins to find clues to his whereabouts for the past two years.

A young boy in the 7th grade attempts to make the world a better place after his Social Studies teacher gives him that chance through an assignment, which changes the life's of all those around him.

Peacemaker, The

Peach Blossom Land

Two Chinese drama companies happened to share one auditorium for rehearsal. Friction was inevitable as one of them played "Peach Blossom," a comedy in medieval costume, and the other played "Secret Love," a sad story with a contemporary setting.
