German born Hans Florian Zimmer (1957-) began as a composer by writing advertising jingles. He became part of rock and roll trivia immortality before ever scoring a movie by composing the first song ever done on MTV, the Buggles, "Video Killed the Radio Star."
His film credits include Driving Miss Daisy, Crimson Tide, The Prince of Egypt, and Gladiator. Zimmer received multiple Oscar nominations, beginning with Rain Man and winning for The Lion King.
