Properties

Props, or Properties, are accessories, furniture and other objects used to decorate or enhance a scene in theatre, film or television. A prop might be as innocuous as a picture on a wall in the background, or as important as the gun the villain uses to "murder" another character.

Some props companies specialize in designing and building custom props such as armor, creatures, and over- or under-size models, while other companies focus on collecting everyday objects and renting them out to productions.

Computers and Electronics

Computer and electronics props are fake or real, working or nonworking equipment used on film, theatre and television sets to visually complete a scene. For example a scene taking place in a busy office might require several computers for the employees' desks. If the show is set in the past, then the computers would have to be of a type that fits the year the scene takes place.

Vehicles

Many films and television shows require cars, trucks, emergency vehicles or even military vehicles as background traffic or as part of the action. The vehicles must match the location, era, and general atmosphere of the scene in question. Some companies specialize in collecting large numbers of specific types of vehicles, restoring them, and making them available to productions, often along with mechanic and/or driver services. There are also websites which collect listings of available individually-owned vehicles for a fee.

Weapons

The weapons which appear on stage or on screen may be real, or they may be fake. Often the actors portrayed as using them had to take lessons on how to fight realistically with these stage weapons without anybody getting hurt seriously. And there are certain companies which specialize in supplying stage weapons and training as well as remaining aware of the most up to date local regulations and safety procedures.
