Lists sites for businesses that primarily manufacture cranes or hoists, or provide associated parts and service. Cranes and hoists are equipment used for lifting or lowering a freely suspended load. Hoists are commonly used solely for vertical movement, where as cranes may allow limited horizontal movement. Typical equipment includes jib cranes, gantry cranes, hoists, lifting beams, and overhead cranes. This category does not list Elevators installed in buildings. Many fully automated lifting devices, such as vertical reciprocating lifts, are listed within Conveyors.

Crates and Containers

Lists sites for businesses that primarily manufacture crates and containers which are mainly for materials handling or transport, rather than for the packaging of individual products; or provide associated parts and service. Typical items listed here include 'maritime' containers and boxes used to contain and transport part-processed materials. This category does not list sites related to crates and containers used for general Packaging of goods or finished products. Pallets are not listed here.

The majority of sites relating to crates and containers actually belong within packaging.

Distributors and Integrators

Lists sites for businesses that primarily supply manual materials handling equipment manufactured by another business, or offer a combination of equipment supply, system design, and consultancy services. Businesses that are primarily manufacturers or equipment are not listed here, although integrators may undertake some engineering work as part of an installation process.

Loading Bay Equipment

Lists sites for businesses that primarily manufacture equipment used to move materials within the staging platform used to transfer items from short-range materials handling systems to long-range transportation; or provide associated parts and service. Sites related to equipment that requires or allows structural change to a load dock area are normally listed within Construction_and_Maintenance. Sites related to conveyors used for load bay operations and other uses are listed within Conveyors.

Pallets

Lists sites for businesses that primarily manufacture pallets; or provide associated parts and service. Pallets are portable platforms used to transport or store materials. They are commonly made from wood, metal, or plastic, and designed to allow lifting devices, such as fork lift trucks, to handle them with ease.

This category is NOT for heavy trucks. Please submit such sites within Trucking.

Sites related to electric vehicles may be submitted here if they are specifically designed for a materials handling use. Otherwise, please consider submitting within Science.

Sites related to automated vehicles should be submitted here.

Sites related to earth moving equipment should be submitted within Construction_and_Maintenance.

Sites related to agricultural tractors should be submitted within Agriculture_and_Forestry.

Pre-Fabricated Mezzanines and Enclosures

Pre-Fabricated mezzanines and enclosures are pre-constructed, pre-engineered structures that are generally used in conjunction with warehouse and distribution centers. Pre-Fabricated Mezzanines are free standing floor systems, built between two permanent stories. Pre-Fabricated Mezzanines are considered equipment and not construction. Pre-Fabricated enclosures are also considered equipment and can consist of many materials. Pre-Fabricated enclosures can be made from woven wire mesh, modular wall panels, fabric, plastic, etc.

Racks and Shelving

Racks and Shelving designed for warehouse or industrial applications. Generally larger scale to store pallets of materials or bulk products, but also shelves designed to hold smaller products.

This category is only for rack and shelving manufacturers and fabricators. If you sell racks and shelving but do not manufacturer them, you should submit to Manual/Distributors and Integrators .

Trolleys, Hand Trucks, and Casters

Lists sites for businesses that primarily manufacture wheeled carts and other load bearing devices that assist in manually moving individual loads horizontally along a variable path, primarily for use in materials handling; or provide associated parts and service. This category includes equipment such as air based bearings. Fully automated trolleys are listed in Automated Vehicles. This category does not list retail trolleys, or tram trolleys.

Sites related to casters should only be submitted here where products are specifically designed for use in materials handling. Casters and wheels for more general application should be submitted to Industrial_Supply/Casters_and_Wheels.
