This category is used to list any sites that offer software somewhat related to MPEG Audio Layer 3 (MP3). The different types of MP3 software are located in the respective sub-categories, please try and find the correct one before submitting your site here.
If your site is based around a hardware system (instead of a software program) then it would be better to submit your site to a category like Audio Equipment or something similar.
Please submit here only sites for software that can be used to play, encode/decode, locate, download MP3 files or otherwise related to the file format. Please NO MP3 download sites.
All-In-One MP3 programs refers to applications that include many different MP3-related utilities in a single package. The most common combination is usually an audio player, CD to MP3 ripper/encoder, and ID3 tagger. Many packages include a range of additional tools as well.
Please submit only MP3 related programs featuring different utilities in the one package. (i.e. perhaps a player, ripper and encoder, tagger included together).
Encoding means changing an audio file from perhaps WAV format (the most common) into a compressed MP3 file - most the programs in this category are made to carry out this task.
Decoding means decompressing a MP3 file into an uncompressed format such as WAV - that is, going the opposite way to encoding. Only some of the tools in this category will carry this task out.
This category is for listing either sites containing source data for MP3 encoding/decoding or entire programs themselves which feature MP3 encoding and/or decoding.
This category is for listing MP3 file and playlist managers. These are programs that create lists of the files you have in your collection and maybe even have the ability to download some for you.
Some of these programs may actually be able to create M3U playlists for use in Winamp and other popular MP3 players.
This category is for listing programs in any way relating to MP3 files and available for Macs.
If the program you wish to list here is available for other operating systems also, it may be also listed in the sub-categories of Arts/Music/Computers/MP3/Software.
This category lists software programs used to play MP3 files. They often have other features other that just the ability to play, such as making playlists, graphic equalizer, plugins (for both audio and graphic effects), and skins to name a few. Each player will have a different combination of these features so make sure you check out what they have before downloading.
Please submit only software programs for playing MP3s (i.e. not hardware: portable players or car audio systems). Audio mixing programs (DJ style) are also acceptable, as long as they use the MP3 format.
"Rippers" are programs which extract audio from a CD and save it as a WAV file (usually). Some rippers have a built in encoder also which converts the WAV file into an MP3 file.
This is for listing MP3 rippers whether or not they have an encoder built in. There may be overlaps between here and the "Encoders_and_Decoders" category.
