Atari is a term in a Japanese board game called Go and has an equivalent meaning to saying Chess in a Chess game. The Atari logo - the Fuji - represents the Fujiama mountain in Japan. Atari was founded on June 27th 1972 by Nolan Bushnell. First shipped video game system was an arcade game called Pong, in 1973.

The Jaguar is a 64 bit console system produced by Atari. Atari has been acquired by Hasbro and they have released rights to the console and declared it an open system. New games are still being released for the Jaguar even though it died in 1996.
