The well-known electronics giant was also briefly a video game company. Due to a failed partnership with Nintendo that attempted to create a CD-based add-on for the Super Nintendo, Philips created a CD-based console system of the their own, the CD-i. The CD-i was not very successful, but is still around in some forms today.
