This is done by reinterpreting daily living, activities, artisans, and first-person interpretations, using period garb and the era's common tools and objects. Living History is used to educate others and to remember the good and bad times of a region's past.

Living History/US Civil War portrays the era of 1861-1865 via the reenactment of battles and daily living. These include artisans, duels and military combat, first-person interpretations, historic research, period garb, and use of the era's common tools and objects.

This category covers the period of conflict from 1774 to 1783. It includes civilian reenactors, provided that a relationship to the War for Independence other than time frame is established. These impressionists may be representative of any country involved in the original conflict, so long as they strive for authenticity. Sites devoted to military units are urged to submit to the relevant subcategory. These include fife and drum corps, militias, Army, Navy or Marine-type military units.
