Balaghat is a district in the southeast of Madhya Pradesh.
District Barwani was formed on 25th May 1998. It was carved out of West-Nimar, Khargone district. Barwani is situated on the southern side of Madhya Pradesh as well as holy river Narmada. District is surrounded by Satpuda (in South) and Vindhyachal (in North) forest ranges. State of Maharashtra in South, Gujrat in far West, district Khargone on the East and district Dhar on the North form boundaries of Barwani.

Betul is one of the marginally located southern districts of Madhya Pradesh, lying almost wholly on the Satpura plateau. It occupies nearly the whole width of the Satpura range between the valley of the Narmada on the north and the bearer plains on the south. It forms the southernmost part of Bhopal commissioners Division. The district derives its name from the small town of Betul Bazar about 5Km. south of Badnur, the headquarters of district. During the Maratha regime as also in the beginning of the British rule, Betul or Betul Bazar was the district Headquarters.

This district is named after the city of Bhopal. Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh, is a fascinating amalgam of scenic beauty, old historic city and modern urban planning. It is the 11th century city Bhojpal, founded by Raja Bhoj, but the present city was established by an Afghan soldier, Dost Mohammed (1707-1740). His descendants build Bhopal into a beautiful city.

The District Chhatarpur was known after the name of the great warrior of the region Maharaja Chhatrasa. This District was previously under the then Vindhya Pradesh. However at the time of formation of the Madhya Pradesh, it was included in Madhya Pradesh on 1st November 1956. The District is situated at North East border of Madhya Pradesh. This District is spread over an Area of 8687 Square Kms. with longitudes and latitudes of 24.06 & 25.20 on North 78.59 - 80.26 on East respectively. Chhindwara district was formed on 1st November 1956. It is located on the South-West region of 'Satpura Range of Mountains'. It is spread from 21.28 to 22.49 Deg. North (longitude) and 78.40 to 79.24 Deg. East (latitude) and spread over an area of 11,815 Sq. Km. This district is bound by the plains of Nagpur District (in Maharashtra State) on the South, Hoshangabad and Narsinghpur Districts on the North, Betul District on the West and Seoni Districts on the East.

This place has long history dating back to ancient times excavated. Stone Age tools found in Singrampur Valley are testimony to the fact that this place was the cradle of human civilization and habitat since millions of years. In more recent times, around 5th century, it was part of mighty grand empire of Guptas of Pataliputra, It was established by the plaques and coins along with various monuments found in the region belonging to the reign of Samudragupta, Chandragupta, and Skandgupta. From 8th century to 12th century some parts of the Damoh district were parts of Chedi Empire ruled by Kalchuri dynasty from capital Tripuri. The magnificent temple at Nohta is a Living example of the glory of Kalchuries in 10th century. Historical evidences also proves that some regions of the district were under the Chandels of the Jejak -Bhukti. 14th century heralded the era of Muslim rule in the region and stone carving at Salaiya and Batiyagarh mention Khilzi and Tuglaq as Sultans. Later on, the Sultan of Malwa annexed the region in to his fold. In the last quarter of the 15th century, Sangram Shah of Gond dynasty annexed the region into its dynamic and mighty empire consisting of 52 forts.

This district is named after the city of Indore. Indore is situated on the Malwa plateau at an altitude of 553 m above sea level, on the banks of two small rivulets - the Saraswati and the Khan. They unite at the centre of the city where a small 18th century temple of Sangamnath or Indreshwar exists. The name Indore is due to this diety. Named after the town of Katni. Katni is conglomeration of culture from three different cultural states viz. Mahakausal, Bundelkhand, and Baghelkhand. There are three different stories which reveals why Katni is called Mudwara. Katni junction is having half circular Mode (turn) from wagon yard. So people call it “Mudwara” Another story is that there was a village call Modwar that has been given as a reward of bravery for cutting Mud (heads).

Prior to the States reorganization, i.e., on 1st November 1956, the District was officially known as Nimar District and formed part of Mahakoshal region of the erst-while Madhya Pradesh. The western part of old Prant Nimar originally held by the Holkar, became a part of Madhya Bharat, when that state was formed in the year 1948. As on the reorganization of States, Madhya Bharat region was merged in Madhya Pradesh, the western part of old Prant Nimar eventually became a part if Madhya Pradesh. This tract with its headquarters at Khargone, also happened to retain its old name of Nimar, and being to the west of the District of former Nimar of Mahakoshal region, was named as Nimar(West) or West Nimar, while the District was officially renamed as Nimar(East) or East Nimar from 1st November, 1956. The District has been divided into Burhanpur and Khandwa ( East Nimar) Districts on 15th August 2003.

Khargone lies in a tract, which has always been historically important for it’s being on the easiest natural route that connects the northern and southern parts of India. The district takes its own name from the head quarters town Hoshangabad which was founded by "Sultan Hushang Shah Gori", the second king of Mandu (Malwa) in ealry 15th century. Hoshangabad district lies in the central Narmada Valley and on the northern fringe of the Satpura Plateau. It lies between the parallels of 22 degree 15 minute and 22 degree 44 minute east.

Narsinghpur district is situated in the central part of Madhya Pradesh & Madhya Pradesh is located in the Central part of India. Raisen District lies in the central part of Madhya Pradesh. The District is situated between the latitude 22 47' and 23 33' north and the longitude 77 21' and 78 49' east. It is bounded in the west by Sehore district, in the north by Vidisha district, in the ease and south-east by Sagar district, in the south-east by Narsimhapur district, and in the south by Hoshangabad and Sehore district. The total area of the District is 8,395 Sq. Km., which contains the 1.93 % of the State's area. Raisen District takes its name from massive Fort. This fort is build on a sandstone hill, at the foot of which settles the town. The name is probably a corruption of Rajavasini or Rajasayan, the royal residence

Rajgarh District is located in the Northern part of Malwa Plateau. It forms the North Western part of Division of Bhopal Commissioner. Rajgarh District extends between the parallels of Latitude 23027' 12" North and 24017' 20" North and between the meridians of Longitude 76011' 15" and 77014' East. It has a Quadrangular shape with the Northern and Western sides longer than the Southern and Eastern sides respectively. The zigzag boundaries of the District resemble a pear. Rajgarh District is bounded by Shajapur District in the South as well as west. The District of Sehore, Bhopal, Guna and Jhalawar (Rajasthan) enclose it from the South-East, East, North-East, and North directions respectively. The total Geographical area of the District is 6,154 sq.km. with a population of 1253246 persons according to census 2001. It is one of the small districts of Madhya Pradesh both in respect of area and population. It is 145 Kms from the state capital Bhopal.

Ratlam is one of the important districts of Madhya Pradesh which is situated in the North West part of the State "The MALWA" Region. The District of Ratlam was created in June 1948 and was reorganized in January 1949. It covers the area of the former princely State of Ratlam, Jaora, Sailana, Piploda. Ringnod Tehsil of Dewas Senior, Alot Tehsil of Dewas Junior and parts of Mandsaur Tehsil of Gwalior State, a few villages of Dhar State and Chief Commissioners provinces of Pant Piploda.

Rewa lies between 24'18 and 25'12 north latitudes and 81'2 and 82'18 east longitudes in the north-east of the division of the same name . The district is bounded on the north and east by the state of Uttar Pradesh, in the south Sidhi district and in the west with Amarpatan and Raghurajnagar tahsils of Satna district. In shape the district can be compared to an isosceles triangle, with its base along the Satna border and the two longer arms converging towards Mauganj in east. It is part of the Baghelkhand region.

The district of Sagar lies in the north central region of Madhya Pradesh. It was spelled as Saugar during the British period. It is situated between 23 deg 10’ and 24 deg 27’ north latitude and between 78 deg 4’ and 79 deg 21’ east longitude, the district has a truly central location in the country. The tropic of cancer passes through the southern part of the district. The origin of the name comes from the Hindi word “Sagar” meaning lake or sea, apparently because of the large and once beautiful lake around which the town of Sagar has been built. Sagar was founded by Udan Singh in 1660 and was constituted a municipality in 1867.

Seoni is primarily a tribal dominated district formed on 1st November 1956. The district name Seoni has the origin from the word "SEONA" (or gudina arborea), a species of tree belonging to the verbanaleal family, which was commonly found in this area. The wood of this tree is used in manufacture of "Dholak". The district is situated on a narrow, North-South section of Satpura plateau in the South of Jabalpur Division. The District lies between latitude 21 36' & 22 57' North and longitude 79 19' & 80 17' East.

Shahdol District is situated in the North-Eastern part of the Madhya Pradesh provinces of India. Tikamgarh district lies in the northern part of Madhya Pradesh. The early history of Tikamgarh district is however not chronicled, though as suggested by the numerous ruins of buildings and other old remains lies scattered at various places, viz Orchha, Garh Kudar, Prithvipur, Barana, Lidhoura, Digora, Mohangarg, Baldeogarh and Tikamgarh, it must be having a glorious past. The district was the part of vast empires successively ruled by the Mauryas, the Sungas and the imperial Guptas. It was in the first quarter of ninth century A.D., that Mannuka founded a new dynasty the Chandella dynasty in this area. Tikamgarh alongwith Khajuraho and Mahoba formed part of extensive Chandella Kingdom. The Khangras also held this region especially around Garh Kundar. The rising power of Bundelas in this region resulted into the downfall of the Khangras. The Orchha records trace the descent of the Bundela Kingdom of Orchha from Garh Kudar chiefs of Benaras Hemkaran, also known as Pancham Bundela.

This disrict is named after the city of Ujjain. The early history of Ujjain is lost in the midst of antiquity. As early as the time of the Aryan settlers, Ujjain seems to have acquired importance. By the 6th century B.C. Avanti with its capital at Ujjaini, is mentioned in Buddhist literature as one of the four great powers along with Vatsa, Kosala and Magadha.

Vidisha or Besnagar as it is called in the Pali scriptures, once the prosperous capital of the western dominions of the Sungas, contains some remarkable antiquities that throw light on the considerable architectural development of the period. Situated in the fork of the Betwa and Bes rivers, Vidisha, 10 km from Sanchi, occupies an important place amongst the ancient cities in India. In the 6th and 5th centuries BC, it rose to become an important trade centre and a bustling city under the Sungas, Nagas, Satvahanas and Guptas. The Emperor Ashoka was governor of Vidisha, and it finds mention in Kalidasa's immortal Meghdoot. Deserted for three centuries after the 6th century, it was renamed Bhilsa by the Muslims who built the now ruined Bija Mandal, a mosque constructed from the remains of Hindu temples. It later passed on to the Malwa Sultans, the Mughals, and the Scindias. Vidisha district of Madhya Pradesh extends between Latitude 230 21' and 240 22' North and Longitude 770 15' 30" and 780 18' East. The District is situated in Eastern part of the fertile Malwa Region. The shape of this District is more or less Elliptical and the longer axis lies from North West to South East with slight projections on the North, North-West, South and South-West. Its greatest length from North-West to South-East is about 133.6 km and the greatest width from North-East to South-West is about 96 km . The Tropic of Cancer passes through the Southern stretch of the District about 2 km South of the District Head Quarters. It is bounded in the North by Guna District in the South by Raisen District and in the East by Sagar District.
