Cheolwon County is located in far northwest Gangwon province, on the border with North Korea.
Chuncheon City is located in northwestern Gangwon province. It is bounded by Gyeonggi province on the west, and within Gangwon-do it shares borders with Hwacheon, Yanggu, Inje, and Hongcheon.
