Sourton, population around 400, is the parish west of Okehampton,: (including "Okehampton Hamlets") administered by West Devon Borough Council.

Bratton Clovelly is to the west, north of the A30 trunk road, with Inwardleigh directly north,: where websites are included in Northlew further north west.
The south east boundary of the parish is within Dartmoor National Park, where there are: lands common to the Parishes of Bridestowe and Sourton.
Whereas Sourton village is on the A386 road, Bridestowe is further west, and only its hamlets: of Lake and Southerly are south, before the next village south Lydford.
