This category represents the Dorset combined parish of Lytchett Minster and Upton.
Although Lytchett Minster is the original conurabation, this has remained a small village to the west of Upton.
Upton as become a town directly west of the boundary with the Poole, which is now the boundary between: the unitary authorites of Dorset Council and BCP Council.
Technically the parish is not part of the Isle of Purbeck, but its south boundary is the tidal mouth of: the Rock Lea River, into Lytchett Bay, which to the south meets Wareham Channel on the; eastern parish boundary of Wareham St Martin represented by the Sanford category.
