Great Bedwyn is a village mainly on the north bank of the Kennet and Avon Canal, south east of  Marlborough.
Little Bedwyn is to the north east.
The Reading to Taunton railway has a station, and runs between the village and the River Dun and canal.
The parish of Great Bedwyn extends south west to include the hamlet of Crofton
and the associated locks fed by the River Dun north of the canal, originally aided by beam engines.
The hamlet of Wilton is south of the locks in the parish of  Grafton.
On the south bank of the canal, Great Bedwyn parish extends south east to  Shalbourne,
before Ham parish, both having eastern boundaries with Berkshire.
