of the main tributary to the Sherston branch of the River Avon which flows north east to  Sherston,
which also represents Sopworth connected by a minor road directly north.
Luckington parish includes the hamlet of Alderton, and rural area to the county boundary with 
South Gloucestershire at  Badminton to the east, and  Acton Turville
further south west on the B4040 road through Luckington from Sherston.
South of Alderton, the railway is crossed by two minor roads, one to Littleton Drew in Grittleton parish,
and the other over a tunnel to Hullavington parish to the south east.
