Victorville is a city in the high desert of southern California, about 35 miles northeast of San Bernadino and 72 miles northeast of Los Angeles. The area was known as Victor from its founding in 1885 until 1901. The city was incorporated in 1962. As of 1995, the population was over 60,000. In 1992, the nearby George Air Force Base was closed; the city annexed the land in 1993, and it is now the Southern California Logistics Airport.
