McCarthy, Eugene J.

Information on former U.S. Representative, and two-term Senator from Minnesota, Eugene Joseph McCarthy.

Wellstone, Paul David

Information on Paul David Wellstone (1944-2002), a longtime political science professor at Carleton College in Northfield who became a two-term United States Senator representing Minnesota. Wellstone was in a tight race for a third term when his plane crashed near Eveleth, killing him, his wife and daughter, and five others, in late October 2002.

Whipple, Henry Benjamin

Bishop Henry B. Whipple, 1822-1901, was the first Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Minnesota. He is also remembered as an advocate for the native peoples of the region during an era of conflict between Indians and white settlers.
