Immigration information, relating to the United States.
Law firm and service provider sites will not ordinarily be listed in this category, unless they provide substantial free legal information about the immigration process. There are subcategories for consultants and services -- however, attorneys are properly indexed in Society/Law/Attorneys_and_Law_Firms/Immigration.

The DV Green Card lottery is a program by the US state department, which gives 50,000-55,000 immigrant visas per year to qualified applicants. The applicants are randomly drawn in a mail in lottery.

Participation is absolutely free, simple and no special entry form is required.

Most green card lottery related sites offer help in filling out and submitting entries for a fee, these are listed in the Submission_Services sub-category. Participation doesn't require special skills (beyond reading and writing)

Informational sites pertaining to H1B visa
The K1 visa enables US Citizens to bring their foreign fiance(e)s to the United States in order to get married. The K2 visa allows unmarried children (under age 21) of the fiance(e) to move to the US as well. The K1 visa is not an end in itself. It is only a single step in one of two established procedures for obtaining a visa to the United States based on a relationship involving marriage with a US Citizen (the other being obtaining an immigrant visa based on *already* being married to a US Citizen). Note: The above is quoted from the newsgroup FAQ.
