Marine is a distinct separate class of insurance and indeed regulated by its own federal Act (that is, the Marine Insurance Act 1909) and is often run as a separate office even with the largest of insurers. It covers both business and domestic risks, including hull, cargo and general transport perils. Both underwriters and claims staff are usually specialists in this area alone. Lumping this together with either "commercial" or "multi-class" is in my view misleading.
