Situated on the East Coast of the North Island, Napier is perhaps best known for its distinctive Art Deco architecture. The city was destroyed by an earthquake in 1931, and rebuilt in the style of the period. The largest city in the Hawke's Bay, Napier hosts such attractions as Marineland and the Hawke's Bay aquarium.
