2010 Copiapo Mining Accident
On August 5, 2010, the San José mine, 28 miles north of Copiapó, collapsed trapping thirty-three miners 2,300 feet underground. On October 13, 2010, after sixty-nine days underground, all thirty-three miners were rescued.
