The island is situated at the shores of the Orinoco river,is 40 kilometers from Curiapo,Its main commercial activity goes around fishing and agriculture. Its houses are built in stilts, called palafitos and its streets which are simply wooden bridges. Offers the possibility to become a very important tourism center. The Los Roques archipelago, the largest coral atoll of the Caribbean, is situated 160 km north of Caracas in Venezuela. It is comprised of around 350 islands protected by a long and magnificent coral reef creating still and crystal clear waters.
The immaculate white beaches stretch as far as the eye can see, offsetting the ever-changing colours of the sea. Inhabited by innumerable birds and an incredible variety of fish and sea turtles, the archipelago was declared a natural park in 1972.
