Baltic languages are a subgroup of the Indo-European language family spoken Latvia, Lithuania and other parts of the Baltic region of Europe. Extinct languages in this family include Prussian, Curonian, Selonian, Semigallian and Yotvingian.
Latvian is a Eastern Baltic member of the Indo-European language family spoken by roughly 1.4 million speakers in Latvia. Latvian is also known as Latviska, Lettish and Lettisch.
Lithuanian is an Eastern Baltic member of the Indo-European language family spoken by nearly 3 million people in Lithuania and an approximately 1 million additional speakers spread across at least 18 other countries. Lithuanian is also known as Liutuviskai, Lietuvi, Litovskiy, Litewski and Litauische.
Old Prussian is a member of the Baltic branch of the Indo-European language family (the two other major Baltic languages are Latvian and Lithuanian). Old Prussian died out in the late 17th century.
